Description:
We're hiring! We are looking for a proactive and passionate Sea Kayak/SUP Guides to be a part of the team this summer. You must share a passion for sustainable tourism, love the outdoors and thrive on delivering an awesome customer experience. It’s all hands on deck - you’ll be working in a varied environment; guiding trips, managing beach rentals, driving our clients and instructing. We’re a small team, so it’s key that you’re enthusiastic about all areas of our business. Sicily in kayak is a locally owned sea kayak and stand-up-paddleboard business, offering both guided and unguided sea kayak excursions, guided multy day trips, freedom rentals and sea Kayak/SUP instruction. We provide a safe, professional and honest service and are looking for like-minded people to join our awesome team. You must also be available for our staff training some weeks before the season start. 

Skills we are looking for:
- a BCU 4 Star Sea kayak Leader or equivalent (E.P.P.3)
- a valid First Aid certificate
- 2 years of experience at another Sea kayak center 
- EU citizenship (or valid work visa for Sicilia)
- very good spoken English and French (Italian is a HUGE plus)
- a very safety-conscious attitude
- customer Service experience
- a friendly, outgoing personality and a passion for helping people of all ages and backgrounds
- highly organised and can work well under pressure
- 20 weeks available (15th May to 15th October)

Sicily in kayak will provide with:
-Trial period of 1 to 2 weeks (unpaid and accommodation at 90€/week returned at the end of the contract)
-Wages after the trial period: 1500€/month* + tips and performance bonus (more than 400€/month)
*Salary for those who cover and guarantee the 20 weeks
-1 day flexible of rest per week (each additional day of rest requested will not be paid)
-Free accommodation Vulcano to share with the Sea Kayak Guide Apprendice if necessary
-If the Sea Kayak Guide receives a guest on permission, he/she will owe 15€ per day
-Free bike
-The potential for longer term or repeat seasonal employment
-No meals and electricity consumption of the apartment included

Duties and responsibilities:
-A Sicily in kayak Sea kayak/SUP Guide will be instructed in the management of Half or Full day excursions on Vulcano, Lipari and Salina islands.  
-A Sicily in kayak Sea kayak/SUP Guide will be instructed in the management of multi-day trips, in bivouac on a free beach,  around Vulcano, Lipari, Salina, Panarea, Filicudi e Stromboli islands.
-A Sicily in kayak Sea kayak/SUP Guides will rent out sea kayak/SUP and ensure that this safety information is properly conveyed to our rental clients before they depart from the base.
-Keep the sea kayak centre and the common areas with the guides, including the kitchen and bathroom at the nautical base clean and ordered.
-Keep all the equipment wash, dry, order and clean including the support van and trailers.
-Help with the quality control of equipment.
-Take appropriate action to promote and sell sea kayaking/SUP in Vulcano.

The following is an overview of the process we use for selecting our Sea Kayak Guide :

Step 1  – Initial applicant CV review (Level of sea kayak certification - Sea kayak guiding experience - Drivers licence grade-References)
Step 2  – First interview (via Whatsapp with live video)
Step 3  – Contact references
Step 4 – Second interview (via Whatsapp with live video)
Step 5 – Offer of a Sea Kayak  Guide position to successful applicant/s

Applicants who do not have access to interview with live video will not be considered for a position.

Please note: Sicily in kayak receives many more applications each year than we have positions to fill. It is to your advantage to submit your application as soon as possible.

In the event that an  Sea Kayak/SUP Guide is granted all the season  they will be expected to provide security to ensure that they in fact will complete the full 20 week.
